Learn about Nosema

Come and learn about Nosema at our next GM, Tuesday, May 16th @ 6:30 pm, held at TRU Scratch Café, 878 College Dr, Kamloops.

We need 15 older bees for the Nosema Testing.

  1. The easiest way is to collect from the inner cover by leaning over next to the hive and using a ziplock bag to collect them.
  2.  Start at the bottom and wiggle it up collecting bees. Have to close it quickly; this often gets most of the air out.
  3. Freeze it so it stays fresh. A couple of days in the freezer helps with setting up a sample.

Pollinator Day (Day of the Honey Bee)

This year the Kamloops Bee Keepers will be celebrating The Day of the Honey Bee on May 20 th (8:15 to 1:45) in conjunction with Pollinator Week at the Kamloops Farmers Market in the 200 block of St. Paul Street (we will be located on the school grounds just above the stairs).

We are looking for 3 or 4 members willing to talk with people about bees, pollination and beekeeping as they come see our display. If you are interested in beekeeping come spend some time with us. You could help the kids to make a bee craft and learn a ton from experienced beekeepers. This is a relaxing no pressure educational day.
